About the Museumplein Ice Rink

The Museumplein Ice Rink is an outdoor real-ice skating rink in the heart of Amsterdam’s museum district. It is the city’s most centrally located ice rink and one of the largest in the Netherlands, drawing visitors from Amsterdam and abroad each winter season.
The rink is suitable for all skill levels — beginners can find their footing on the ice, while experienced skaters can pick up speed on the open surface. For the youngest visitors, ice gliders are available for children with a shoe size smaller than EU 28. These attach under their own shoes and provide balance on the ice.
The setting makes the rink unique: on one side you look out over the iconic I Amsterdam sign location, on the other you have a direct view of the Rijksmuseum’s neo-Gothic facade. It is one of the few places in the world where you can skate in front of a UNESCO World Heritage-listed cityscape.
Tickets & Prices
To skate at the Museumplein ice rink, you need an entry ticket. Skate rental is included in the ticket price. You can also bring your own skates (see rules below).
Online booking is strongly recommended — popular sessions on Friday evenings, weekends and during the school holidays sell out in advance.
