From 13 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, Leidseplein and the adjacent Kleine-Gartmanplantsoen turn into a cosy Winter Market in the heart of Amsterdam. Please note: there is no ice rink on Leidseplein this winter.
What to expect at the Winter Market
Festively lit wooden chalets are spread across Leidseplein and the Kleine-Gartmanplantsoen, selling Christmas decorations, gifts, cheese, warm snacks and freshly prepared corn. You can even buy a Christmas tree to take home. The eye-catcher is the large, illuminated mulled wine tower next to the big Christmas tree, the perfect spot for a glass of glühwein or hot chocolate. From Friday 4 December, a nostalgic carousel adds extra winter magic for the youngest visitors.

Food and drinks
A winter market is not complete without something tasty. At the oliebollen stall you will find freshly baked oliebollen, apple fritters (appelbeignets) and waffles, and there are poffertjes and bratwurst from the grill for something savoury.
Combine your visit
Leidseplein is right in the middle of Amsterdam’s nightlife and close to the canals. Want to skate? The ice rink on Rembrandtplein is a short walk away. Make it a full winter evening with the Christmas Market on Museumplein or a Light Festival canal cruise (26 November 2026 – 17 January 2027).
