The skating rink on the Museumplein in Amsterdam is the most enjoyable skating rink in Holland. It is the ideal location for skating for beginners but also advanced skaters can show their skating skills at the skating rink.

Price of Ice Skating Rink Museumplein

To access the ice skating rink on Museumplein, you need to purchase an entry ticket. The ticket price is €16.00 per person (including skate rental). Online tickets are available throughout the season except between 20 December and 4 January. During this period, due to the Dutch Christmas holidays, online sales are temporarily unavailable. If you plan to visit between 20 December and 4 January, please purchase your tickets directly at the ticket desk at the rink.

For all other dates, we recommend buying your tickets online in advance to guarantee your entry and avoid waiting times. Check availability below and book your tickets for the ice rink (including skate hire) directly.

There are plenty of reasons for non-skaters to visit the Museumplein as well. Chirstmas Market Amsterdam Ice*Village brings the Christmas spirit to Museumplein from 4th till 28th December 2025. Shop, eat and drink at many different chalets and food trucks, all set in a Scandinavian atmosphere. The skating rink will be open every day from 15 November 2025 to 6 February 2026. Monday to Thursday from 12pm to 9pm and Friday, Saturday from 10am to 10pm and on Sunday 10am to 9pm

When is the Christmas market on Amsterdam’s Museumplein open?

Are lockers available at the ice rink?

Yes, there are lockers you can rent.

Which skates are allowed on the ice rink?

The skating rink at Museumplein is made with real ice. The rental skates are ice hockey skates. The sizes available are size 28 (EU) to size 50 (EU). You can hire the skates for a maximum of 2 hours. For children with a size smaller than 28 (EU), ice gliders are available for rent. These can be tied under their own shoes.

You are welcome to bring your own skates. However, these must not be skates with sharp points, such as Norwegian skates. These are prohibited on the ice rink.

May I bring my own skates?

You may bring your own skates to the Museumplein Skating Rink, provided that they do not have sharp points (e.g. Norwegian skates).

What are the rules at the skating rink at Museumplein in Amsterdam?

Entering the ice rink is at your own risk.
The ice rink may only be entered with ice skates.
Gloves are required.
It is forbidden to consume food and drinks on the ice rink.
It is forbidden to enter the ice rink with sledges and other objects unless provided by Ice*Amsterdam.
It is forbidden to enter the ice rink during maintenance.
The instructions of employees must be followed at all times.

Is the skating rink at Museumplein covered?

No the skating rink is not covered. This allows you to enjoy the unique surroundings more. The skating rink is also open when it rains. If you want to skate indoors, you can visit the winter event Winterparadijs in the RAI Amsterdam from 13 December 2025 to 3 January 2026.

Are dogs permitted?

Dogs or other pets are not permitted on the premises. An exception is made for guide dogs.

Is the ice rink accessible by wheelchair?

Yes, the Museumplein Ice Rink is completely barrier-free and accessible to visitors with physical disabilities. There are wide paths, ramps, rubber mats and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. The catering facilities are also easily accessible and offer table service if desired. Wheelchair users can take their own (clean) wheelchairs onto the ice.
